Why It Matters
Vaisakhi marks the establishment of the Khalsa Panth by Guru Gobind Singh Ji at Anandpur Sahib on Vaisakhi in 1699, which historians date to 30 March, when he initiated the first five Sikhs (Panj Pyare) and created the distinctive Sikh identity. It is one of the most significant days in Sikh history.
