Why It Matters

Yom HaShoah is observed on the 27th of Nisan, the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. A day of solemn remembrance for the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust, established by the State of Israel in 1951.

How It Is Observed

Two-minute siren in Israel during which all activity stops, memorial ceremonies, lighting six candles for the six million, survivor testimonies, reading of names, educational programs.
