Psalms — Chapter 28
Of David.O ETERNAL One, I call to You;my rock, do not disregard me,for if You hold aloof from me,I shall be like those gone down into the Pit.
Listen to my plea for mercywhen I cry out to You,when I lift my handstoward Your inner sanctuary.
Do not count meacount me Or “drag me off”; meaning of Heb. uncertain. with the wicked and evildoerswho profess goodwill toward their fellowswhile malice is in their heart.
Pay them according to their deeds, their malicious acts;according to their handiwork pay them, give them their deserts.
For they do not consider GOD’s deeds, the work of divine hands.May [God] tear them down, never to rebuild them!
Blessed is GOD,who listens to my plea for mercy.
GOD is my strength and my shield, the One in whom my heart trusts.I was helped, bhelped Or “strengthened.” and my heart exulted,so I will give glory with my song.
GOD is their strength;ctheir strength Septuagint, Saadia, and others render, and some mss. read, ʻoz leʻammo, “the strength of God’s people.” and a stronghold for the deliverance of our anointed ruler.dour anointed ruler Heb. “His anointed one.”
Deliver and bless Your very own people;tend them and sustain them forever.
