Proverbs 14A Way That Seems Right

Summary

Proverbs 14 begins with a wise woman building her house while folly tears hers down with her own hands. It explores self-deception: the simple believe every word, and there is a way that seems right to a man whose end is death. Inner life is private, since only the heart knows its own bitterness. Social sayings follow: whoever oppresses the poor insults his Maker, whoever honors God has mercy on the poor, and righteousness exalts a nation.

Key verse

“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”

Proverbs 14:12
